ASHFORD GREEN PARTY
Alan Dean

Alan is our Bybrook Councillor. He joined the Green Party in May 2025 after over 50 years in the Labour movement. Following a period of deep reflection, he found the Green Party to be more closely aligned with his values of equality, fairness, opportunity, community, and environmental justice.
Alan has a long history of activism, beginning in the 1970s as a teacher in Brixton and active member of the Anti-Nazi League. He spent decades working in education across London’s most vulnerable communities, driven by a strong sense of social justice.
Elected as the councillor for Bybrook in 2023, Alan led a successful, manifesto-driven local campaign. His experience and commitment to inclusive, values-based politics now continue with Ashford Green Party.
Alan believes that the Green Party represents a truly progressive force in British politics – one that speaks out on issues such as the genocide in Gaza, cuts to disability benefits, and wealth inequality. He is proud to be part of a team working for real change in Ashford.
