As a borough councillor since 2019, Diccon has delivered real results: getting the road outside New Hayesbank surgery fixed by formally challenging KCC, helping to save evening and weekend buses by writing to Stagecoach, creating safer community paths, securing funding for play areas, and proposing and helping deliver our revitalised town centre market. Diccon is also driving the campaign to bring international rail back to Ashford and working to revitalise our town centre.

Turning Ideas into Action

Diccon joined the Green Party because he wanted to move beyond politics that simply manages decline and instead champion practical investment in communities and infrastructure. He believes local government can be a powerful force for positive change when it focuses on long-term thinking and real solutions.

Delivering for Local People

Since becoming a Borough Councillor, Diccon has built a reputation for getting things done. From helping secure improvements to roads and bus services to expanding Ashford’s town centre market and campaigning to restore international rail services through Bring Back Euro Trains, he is passionate about projects that strengthen both the local economy and community life.

Proud of Ashford

Diccon loves the views towards the North Downs and enjoys being involved with organisations that celebrate both nature and culture, including Friends of Bybrook Nature Reserve. He believes local cafés, community groups and independent businesses are the places where communities are built and friendships flourish.

Building the Future

Looking ahead, Diccon wants to see an economy that is both more sustainable and more equitable, creating opportunities for everyone to reach their potential. His advice to anyone thinking about joining the Green Party reflects his collaborative approach: you’ll be welcomed, valued and encouraged to make a real contribution from day one.
