Standing Up for What Matters

Al joined the Green Party when he was just sixteen and has never looked back. Drawn by the party’s values from an early age, he has grown alongside the Ashford Green Party and is proud to have played a part in helping build the strong local movement it has become today.

Politics with Purpose

For Al, politics isn’t about point-scoring, but about standing up for people, communities and the values that matter, even when it’s difficult. He believes the Green Party has consistently shown the courage to defend equality, human rights and environmental responsibility, while refusing to follow political fashions or scapegoat vulnerable people.

Community at the Heart

As both a councillor and Fundraising Officer, Al loves the diversity and creativity of Ashford’s community. Coachworks is one of his favourite places, bringing together local musicians, artists, businesses and residents under one roof. He credits Cllr Steve Campkin as one of the pioneers who helped establish the Green Party locally and inspires others to become involved.

Looking Ahead

Al believes proportional representation could transform British politics by allowing every vote to count and enabling diverse ideas to flourish. Above all, he hopes to see a future where communities are stronger, politics is fairer and people are represented more honestly. His advice to new members reflects the welcoming atmosphere of the local party: you’ll find friendly people, plenty of ways to help, and a chance to make a real difference.
